And by the end of it, it wasn't so bad...

I decided that music could be my valentine this year. Now, I know this may sound strange to some (if not all), but hey, I'm used to explaining myself.

Reasons why music makes a good valentine:

- doesn't make you do household chores of any kind
- helps to pick you up when you are feeling blue
- will always be around no matter where you are
- even when you obtain it the way that is perscribed by the RRIA, it still doesn't really cost a fortune
- helps to encourage intoxication and spending time with your friends
- invites you into the arms of other women and encourages you to have a good time with them...hehe

so yeah, music is a cool valentine, and for those of you with actual loved ones for valentines, I hope that you truly enjoyed your day :)

vball tomorrow at 5pm so I gotta get to some snoozing...
~K
Quote of the Day: "Last night a DJ saved my life..."

Wow, I had quite a run there, sorry for the sudden break in chatter on this ever informative rant...

vball record:

4 - 0

after YET another game shortened due to time, I am thoroughly exhausted. But for future reference, if ever it crosses your mind to go to Morty's pre-workout for wing night, just say "No". Not only is the service slow and unreliable (although rather hot) they make you stand and wait for an hour after saying, " Oh, 3 people, then it will be 15 minutes." Thankfully Graham was also late so I got to miss out on the Cale-standard - "Jackass" comment. Or rather, gone and back and gone again. It's been awhile, no?

So I watched some crazy long french movie tonight called Brotherhood of the Wolf. It was quite crazylicious. There wasn't a single scene where I didn't wonder what the heck was going on. It was a little artsy, and a lot french....but there was the coolest hooker ever in this movie. She just had more up her sleeve than anyone could have imagined since she was naked a lot and therefore didn't have sleeves. Quite cool.....and it's got some kung fu action....lots of killing and sword fighting related injuries sometimes causing death. Most excellent overall.

In other news, snow in the KW region has lead to me hanging up my decks for the season.....I'm still hopeful for maybe one more ride, but we'll see how my luck works out. Had a nice sit down dinner at a high class restaurant called Wendy's. Went down to Burlington for some fun at the ever joyous Kingdom. The music was amazing. The crowd was full of energy and kept the place packed all night. To top off the evening, I even got FREE money at the cash grab. So cool...

Today was filled with waking up. After that, I made time for some beach v-ball yet again. The tag team of "K-Dogg and Wolf" weren't necessarily in their finest form, but fine enough to help our glorious teams never lose a single game. Although it might have been disheartening for our competition, much fun was had by all as we all had good senses of humour. A special thanks to Ray, Luke (Craig Kilbourn look alike contest winner), Kristen (Bday rep), Samil (the ever flailing V2 Prez), and the other people whose names I have forgotten....but hey, 4 out of 6 ain't bad.....for making it a Haven vs V2 match of sorts with laughs and good times to be had by all. Oh well, I was just going to start another topic anyway, so here goes:

The following topic came up earlier today. The idea is this: Everything that we see is an illusion that we, the viewer create for our own entertainment. A fascinating depiction of the world that we exist in, no? Imagine if this is all just some fantastical dream that we never really wake up from. If that is the case, let's all remember that dreams are ours to have and control, so make sure your dream is a good one. The thoughts behind that are very similar to those of Buddhism, mixed with a touch of Marxism for added zest. The Buddhists see all all composite things as empty, and every aspect of our lives as a glorious and elaborate illusion that people must look beyond to put an end to Samsara (the cycle of death and rebirth). Marx would add a little bit of an "Opiate of the masses" twist to that, which is rather ironic since I am trying to use a religion to compare to this ideology. Of course, what's the real difference between a theology and an ideology. One is the body of ideas reflecting the social needs and aspirations of an individual, group, class, or culture. And the other, the science of religions or simply, a school of thought. Odd isn't it, how semantics arguments always arise when discussing weird philosophical goodies? So this world might be nothing more than a contrived illusion or hallucination roughly equivalent to that of a drug trip. Here's to a good trip for all of us...

living in a dream world,
kev
P.S. I also saw "One Hour Photo" today. It was quite good. First update since my bday. That's a month...how sad.

Well, this is my first concerted effort at writing a somewhat daily log here at Frustrated Inc. I have once again returned to the joys of my scholarly endevours at UW and in one of the nicest years for Frosh yet. Hmmm....third year isn't too old for first year girls....in fact, it's just right :) Sadly I must report that my entire coding vacation was spent moving. Although I do have quite the killer pad, so I suppose it's worth it. The roomies are working out great thus far and I don't see that changing any time soon. The week break at home with the fam was refreshing and reminded me just how lovely some of the ladies back home were. It's hard to recall sometimes after you've all but moved away from a city so it's always nice to go back for a refresher course.

This weekend was a fairly decent one. Some sweet beach vball with stunning set ups via the Jester himself. Thanks Mikey B. I'll be sure to throw some up for you next time we are out on the court. There was also a slick impromptu jam session with Enrique on lead, new friend Justin on second, and me strumming away in the background while the crowd handled the vocals and much booze. Good times for certain. This weekend also brought about the chance for power outage fun with 15 people and a viscious game o' "Gender Gap" which lead the group to all sorts of revealing and awkward topics :) Also, a special thanks goes out to Matt Hoffman Pro BMX 2 for being such a damn cool game that was always there for us when we weren't sure what else to do.

let there be light,
kev
Quote of the Day: "Yeah, he's a pretty special guy, just like the Olympics."

Happy birthday to me!

Well, since it is now techinically speaking, officially my bday, this is my birthday post. I found the almighty Frustrated Inc. as the top search on Google for a query of the same name. Now call me geeky, but quite frankly, it gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. I'm sure all of this comes in no small part to my link on Swank.ca, the high traffic site for the fun loving, in your face skater geek in all of us. Thank you GoogleBot, wherever you are.

Come September, there will be an update to the Look and Feel of this site. Not that it needs it, but what can I say, different is good.

In more geeky news, SlackerFTP is off the ground. Though it barely had a UI at all (command line), and can only download so far, things are going well. I'm working on a bit of a revamp right now to handle communication control port sharing for version 2.0. This will definitely aid the transition down the road to a full client/server model. All good....and my coding vacation is coming up. That week and half should finish an alpha of version 1.0....at least a command line one. hehehe...so much fun

Knowledge. Such a vast and interesting thing. Such a powerful tool. I'll stop myself here before I rant onward about this. I'd heard it before, but it's worthwhile to share with the internet world. It might seem like little more than a cheese-ridden quote from a fantasy novel, but here's some food for thought. Change the word "Wizard" to "Marketer" or "Expert" and see what you think. The only cure for collective stupidity is knowing it's there, because without knowing it's there, all of the individual intellegence is just washed away...

Fighting the Evils of the Great Dumb,
kev
Quote of the Day: "Wizard's First Rule: People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool" ~ Zeddicus Zu'l Zorander, Wizard's First Rule by Terry Goodkind

Morning always comes too early, even at 5:30 pm,

It always amazes me just how long a game of monopoly can last, especially when some of the players are rather intoxicated. Makes for a fun evening, but a very LONG fun evening. So much wheeling and dealing. So much backstabbing. I'm glad it's just a game....or is it? Monopoly definitely isn't that bad as far as friendships go. Friends definitely don't let friends play RISK. No friendship can survive that game....and relationships, forget about it. The only thing you can hope for is the possibility of "make up sex" after the dust has settled on the game. Hmm...come to think of it, maybe people in relationships should play RISK more often than they do now...interesting thought.

But now for something more interesting than a discussion about the social havoc board games result in. Last night one of my friends began a drunken rant of sorts. The topic: Morality. What is moral? Good question. To be moral is something that no one can really define. After all, there's two distinct opinions out there. A higher morality and a personal one. The believers in a higher morality have the hardest time when dealing with other cultures and religions. After all, to each there own higher morality. If only people would believe that there own morality is not the highest morality, we would be a little better off. And that statement is true of both opinions of what is moral and good. Since I am not drunk at this time, and choose to not fuel too much debate, I will leave it at that. Think about it. It's a rather interesting idea...

if only caffinated water tasted any good,
kev
Quote Of The Day: "You mean the band geek with a flute fetish?"

How sad is this,

I make this post, but I should be sleeping. There was very little that occured that could be considered even a little fucocked, which is good. Swank and dancer return from UTM and dino-land under the big smoke with tales of stickers, public nudity, and rules about how not to play cards. There was mucho celebration for roomie Brian and Shannon who both turned old this weekend. Next stop hip-replacement and dentures. The Friday celebrations were good....Charcoal steakhouse for a nice dinner and then chillin at the Haven. Oh, and lest we forget Simpson's Monopoly and UT on Dreamcast! Now, let's see what else happened, and lets see if I can put all of it in the most confusing order possible...oh yes, Louie's Thursday is still a kick ass time, as it ever was. Not to mention Bomber on Thursday too...it was funky live music for a cause of some sort....don't really remember what it was now but it was good times. Oh, and Wednesday....the Bomber-Weavers combo was pretty good to swank and myself. Keep running into those cab girls. It's funny, I think they're stalking me. Oh well, haven't been stalked in a while, it should liven things up a bit, especially since my bedroom has no windows....that can only make it more interesting for me. On Saturday, thoughts of Van Wilder turned cold cuz of high cost and low time followed quickly by die-harder disappointment in the ticket line. Oh yes, and saw Jimmy Eat World on SNL that night....wasn't the best SNL show, but overall I'd give it a rating somewhere in the Middle. Last night I went out to Phil's for my first taste of Retro 80's Sundays....Somehow it seemed wrong to be drinking and partying on a Sunday, but after a drink and the DJ playing "Jesse's Girl" that feeling passed. Kudos to the Sunday team of swank and guy the perceived gay couple, vicki and lindsey the "we're not REALLY lesbians" lesbians, and ashley who just wants to have fun. I will definitely return to that Sunday night sometime soon, as it was quite a party. Hopefully dancer will join us next time.

Well, that's all I can remember right now...if I think of anything, I'll be back to confuse you further...

testing you all on this later,
kev

Quote of the Day: "I never thought I'd say this about a woman, but really, the only thing I have against her is that she gave me too much head."

So I've heard, but everyone knows that a monkey isn't a domesticated animal,

Day 2 of "Study Week", 10 days and counting...

The entire principle of study weeks is appealing to me. A week off. The chance to NOT stress out. And time to learn some of the stuff you were supposed to be taught. But, for a Slacker and a geek, it means something far different. To me, study week means: "Time to start an open source Java project!"....which is fine by me. It's 6:00 am. I am awake. I am working. Something is wrong. This is fun. You are reading. he he he. Sleep I need.

well, no chills, no spills, and no phil's this evening. I watched part of a rather dull movie based on an Arthur Miller book about racism called 'Focus'. It seems that Graham's comment, which I tend to agree with, about most racism related films being of low quality jumped out at me in this film. I actually enjoyed it less than "Spy Game". And to say that I didn't enjoy it as much as I enjoyed watching a bad board meeting on the big screen says something. Perhaps if the actors had been a little more capable and/or the roles were developed at all it may have been better. I blame the title really. After all, I associate that with the Ford Focus, a most inherently sad little vehicle. And for any who would dispute that remark, I've had the "joy" of being behind the wheel of one of those gutless wonders and I assure you, there's nothing to them....speeding isn't against the law in a focus, it's almost impossible. But enough Ford ranting for one evening.

Then there was slacking to be done. Pool was played, a la CLT....hmmm....clt....it occurs to me that that's only one letter off from a rather interesting word, don't you think? It must be a sign of some kind. I'm sure many guys are thinking cult, women are thinking I'm a perv, and the rest are trying to figure out what a calt is. Well, have fun with that all of you...

meditate on that one for a while,
kev
Quote of the Day: "When you say sure as hell, then I say no"

Salut my friends, Romans, and countymen,

So I'm awake again. It's an interesting place to visit, but it seems I can never stay here too long. I always have to return to the warmth and comfort of my bed. Who knew that sleep is considered to be a necessary component of life. I sure didn't. Or maybe I did. It's hard for me to remember the days fo normal sleep (i.e. pre-university). But ah well.

Another busy day locked in the basement coding fiercely. What a joyous occasion, too bad it wasn't something slightly more interesting or entertaining. It never fails to provide me with at least one solid quote for the day. I will finish this post later....I have a fierce case of the munchies that must be satisfied.

Hunger: sated, for now....but will likely return...damn my stomach heard me...time to raid the fridge

Night Class: over for this week, and complete with a short Tai Chi lesson in the middle, of all things...just one more of those left before term is over....oh dear, what will I do for interesting Tuesday quotes now? Oh wait, I'll be in the midst of exams...if that stress doesn't spout catchy phrases, nothing will

Quotes: A'plenty :)

Because I bore easily and like putting myself in overly complicated situations which could be easily simplified, I decided to take votes for which phrase would be elected as quote worthy this evening. As per usual, class left me laughing profusely at various moments over the course of the 2+ hours I was there. I decided to use a survey against a single person. It was Graham of all people. Well, come to think of it, it wasn't really my idea as such...horray for shifting blame! It was an interesting idea, in theory, but here are the results now, live from chopper 6....Sorry, just wanted to say that for no apparent reason whatsoever...Well the votes are in, and it would appear that there was a miscount in the state of Graham's room. It seems that he doesn't know how to work the idea of specifying a favourite. Or perhaps his int cntr; isn't incrementing. That was sad...but I'm sure some of you geeks out there laughed, or at the very least, felt naucious and had to leave the room screaming for divine intervention of some kind. To save a lot of pain and mental anguish on the party of the first part (that would be me in case you can't translate legaleeze), next time, graham clearly gets no vote...or way more than one, whichever The Company (Frustrated Inc) sees fit at the time. So I decided to go back to the old way and just pick the damn quote myself. Hope you enjoy it, you had to read enough ranting to get to it tonight...

kev
Quote of the Day: "A religious war is about the same as two kids arguing about who has the best imaginary friend"

Well, why didn't you remind me?

By popular demand...no, allow me to rephrase that....by my own blundering memory of a previous rant, it occurs to me that I have yet to explain the mythical concept of benchophilia yet. Well, here goes nothing. Also, let it be known that the term "benchophilia" and related conjugations such as "benchophile" are registered trademarks of shannon and cannot be used without the expressed written consent of her...

Benchophilia - (ben-choe-Fee-Lee-a ), from the English root bench, which refers to the hard metal or wood object designed for sitting your ass on, typically in the form of an elongated chair (see bench), benchophilia refers to a mental condition. This mental condition results in the deisre to grind all benches humanly possible. To all non-skaters, this provides a humourous opportunity to mock an individual based on blatant sexual inuendo involving an inanimate object, in this case the bench. To skaters, benchophilia is quite common, and is not all together a bad thing.

Example - "Wow man, that backside darkslide was sick. You suffer from benchophilia don't you?"

In an effort to further confuse you, see also backside, and the.

That is all for now,
kev

Quote of the Day: "hehe, I bet you don't know where I am right now!"

Wow, you're reading this?

So I managed to crawl my way back to the 'Loo in an effort to make some attempt at some crazy assignment that's due tuesday. But enough about school, as long as I'm awake, it's close enough to being Saturday for me. Some genuinely kick-ass fun was had in Toronto tonight. Phoenix was amazing. It got progressively better as the evening went on too, which was the most astounding part. I don't know how many times when it came time that people were thinking of leaving, a song came on that made it just impossible to go. Such excellent and excellently loud tunes. For those of you who have not ventured to the almighty Phoenix for Edge102 live to air, picture a really really massive and incredibly clean Phil's on a Friday night, with comfy chairs and couches and random radio personality Martin Streak thrown in the mix, and that's Phoenix. I know that not everyone enjoyed it as much as I, but I'm sure that I shall return there sometime....and next time I'm definitely trying to bring Slacker with me.

Speaking of Phil's, it occurs to me that after my long walk home, I failed to provide the necessary rant on that evening. Wow. Just wow. Where to begin? Well, I'm too lazy to come up with a good starting point, so you might as well just read Jesse's non-sensical phriday phil's report from this week. It will put it in perspective if nothing else. There was only one downside to the entire evening, and that was my very chilly walk home. It never seems to occur to me how far away stuff is until I try to walk back from it in the winter while somewhat intoxiacted. But I can't complain too much, after all, my walk was uneventful. And to be quite honest, I'm glad that was uneventful, because eventfulness on "The Path" is usually worthy of someone posting police bulletins in the SLC....wow, didn't this topic take a dark twist. Oh well, just sing a song from Ren and Stimpy at the top of your lungs and you will feel better, trust me.

Now that you are all happy again, cheers to the house77 boys and their Ottawa buds for a blast of a weekend. It was most excellently good times. Also, hats off to the amazing chaffeuring job on the part of Sole who went from 0 to amateur street racing in just 3 short days driving standard. Well done....very well done. Well, I guess it's time to go back to the abnormality and odd little conundrums that make up Waterlooian life. Damn reality, why couldn't you wait until Monday to return? Sleep is the next obvious step for me, and since I lack creativity at this point, sleep it is....

Your resident New Found fan,
kev

Quote of the Day: "I guess someone should tell him that you can't fuel a car up by watering it like a plant"

Well, isn't that precious....now let me get on with the story,

Cold days once again. Oh how I wish it were not so cold. Oh well, I'll likely spend summer complaining about it being too hot. Today I continued my earthshattering experiments into becoming more nocturnal. All tests have been positive so far, but clearly more testing must be done.

Well yesterday was interesting. The house77 boys arrived much later than originally anticipated and missed altogether any signs of Xboxy goodness. Not that it was all that good. They had one screen and one game. Nothing terribly exciting, except when Jesse got excited and his nipples started to glow green with Xbox lovin'. Then, upon leaving the less than fantastic event, Jesse decided to take off for home. Graham and I, being the nice people that we are, went over to help a girl who had seemingly stranded her car in the middle of ring road. Her four-ways were on and she seemed to be trying to get our attention. Then, much to our surprise, Brad lept from the vehicle. We were offered a ride home, which we graciously accepted. I wish that I could pronounce the driver's name....but assuming Graham is right (not usually a good idea) it is spelled "Sole". She did pretty well at her first time driving standard, though we made much fun of her due to our Slacker natures. You did good, strange girl who I don't know....really you did.

Well, I'm meeting the guys in one hour at Phil's so I should really go get ready...but remind me to tell you all about "benchophilia" in tomorrow's post.

cheers and jeers,
kev

Quote of the Day: "So that's why they have lightswitches in bedrooms"

To my freezing cold listeners,

The weather is mad at me. Here it is, first day of spring, me with a renewed enjoyment for being outside, and the forecast is for wind storms and snow. Not funny Mr Weatherman.....not even a little bit funny. Not to mention, due to my recent hair cut, I am that much colder when I am outside. Outside is cold and evil...I shall play inside today.

I'm just a kid, and life is a nightmare.
I'm just a kid, and I know that it's not fair.
Nobody's cares cuz I'm alone
and the world is having more fun that me tonight

But not tonight my faithful listeners, it should be a most excellent party! :)

I just thought that I would the world know that Graham is having a gender identity crisis. If anyone out there has an idea of how to help inner-lesbians in college guys, send email to graham's inner lesbian with subject line, "I will help you little lesbian". A dangerous theme in my life...ah well, it could be worse, I could have tons of laundry to do. Oh wait, I do. But not after tomorrow! Mwahahaha....I must be delirious. Well, as you may not notice because I'm editing a particularly short and otherwise pointless post from last night, this is actually being posted in the daytime! I know, I know, I'm breaking up my ability to rant about how late it is. But at the same time, it's nice to be able to sit here at my computer and not be pulled like a magnet towards the dreaded extra-long-stasis chamber that has been known to be called a bed from time to time. I must have some kind of sleep disorder, I think they call it a need for natural sleep in regular patterns....well, so much for ever curing that....

Had an exciting evening of skating with swank and rolling up the rim with dancer and jono last night. It was good times. Although, those cups could stand to be a little more winning at times. And naturally, because we ended up at someone's house (mine namely) there was Mario Kart battling to be done. I lost miserably, mostly due to jono's rather off-the-wall strategy. He decided to come to a complete stop and let people hit him! It seems like it wouldn't be that successful, much like jesse playing rock paper scissors, but even though he shouldn't win, he does. Damn rock! Why must you foil me everytime!

So I ended last night with the rather domesticating activity of doing the dishes. Other than the fact that the dish soap smells like the nastiest fake lemon imaginable, there were no serious disasters to report. Just as well really. Although it's nice to have things to rant about, I also like have dishes to use while eating. It's a little thing, but it's a nice thing...

T-10 hours on the arrival of h77...there is growing anticipation. Also, there are many people asking how graham is supposed to go to sauga and back without the benefit of vehicular transportation. I liked jon's idea....we should definitely box him up and FedEx him there. Of course, he'd arrive early and the h77 boys wouldn't be back to sign for him. Poor graham....I guess we'll have to put some food and water in your box. Maybe some straw so you can lay down comfortably.

confused by this daytime concept,
kev

Quote of the Day: "You've really quite lost your mind....wait, should I repeat that more slowly?"

Hey, are you listening?

Today my rant is directed at a certain professor who believes that it is funny to have two different copies of the course webpage with entirely different assignment content on each page even though the rest of the pages are identical. One of the assignments is the one that I have to hand in tomorrow morning. The other, quite similar assignment, is the one that I locked myself in the basement to spend all day working on. If it hadn't been for me running into the Jessman during night class, who was casually drinking a Pepsi and pondering the meaning of life while on a break from sex, I would be without knowledge of my error, and would be sleeping this evening. As it stands, I have to redo the assignment much to my perturbedness. If only it were illegal for computer illeterate professors to have webpages that aren't moderated. Oh well, such is life. The internet is still a vast collection of people writing endlessly about nothing with little or no fact behind it (much like I am doing right now)...oh, who am I kidding. You and I both know that it's all just porno.

As a slight aside, I would like to offer this little piece of advice for healthy living: More than 3 tacos from Taco Bell at 12:20 in the morning is a bad idea, no matter how cheap they are. Hmmm....today was a sleepy day overall. Perhaps too sleepy. Alarm clocks, now there's an annoyance. Why is it, that on days when you need to get up and venture to do important things, the alarm never goes off? It's a strange and terrifying reality that so many of my fellow classmates can attest to. It is a thing which happens so often that it is almost worthy of a name to define it. I, being the only one here in my basement apartment at this time, have decided to nominate myself as the worthy candidate who will create this name...

And the name shall be, *trumpets sound*

'alarmssuckalotalitis'

alarmssuckalotalitis - pronounced "a-laR-ms-Su-ku-law-ta-lY-Tis", alarmssuckalotalitas comes from the vernacular of the 'Haven' dwellers, and is a derogatory term directed specifically at alarm clocks and the results they have on a person since they only seem to go off on days that you don't actually have to get up early. Examples: "I'm tired, and suffering because of my alarmssuckalotalitis".

That is all for now, and I shall return tomorrow with more tales of my confusion... :)
kev

Quote of the Day
"That internet service goes down more often than a White House intern"

Hey everyone,

Well, this being the first post to Frustrated Inc., I should probably say something profound. But as it stands, I'm just going to rant a bit and explain a few things. Thing numero uno....why is this site referred to as Frustrated Inc? Well, I was listening to my vast collection of MP3s and came across a bitchy, downer of a song called "Misery". For those who don't recognize or remember, I'll sing, well, type a few of the lyrics..

"They say misery loves company.
We should start a company, and make misery.
Frustrated Incorported"

Enough said. And as for my choice of URLs, I like blue, and lithium is my favourite Nirvana song...those two things alone sound pretty strange, but you have to admit, bluelithium does have kind of a nice ring to it. Anyway, I'll keep this place as "Frustrated" until I get told to change it and/or come up with something cooler like say swank or the house77 boys. Kudos to both crowds...

In the words of Caler's little bro, now that was a fist full of stupid.

On that note, I think I will sign off for the evening and work on some damn graphics for this site....
templates: only good if you were the one who came up with it...

ciao for now,
kev
